Mangaluru: Deaths, Deaths and More Deaths in Two Districts in Two Days

Mangaluru: Deaths of a trekker in Beltangady following a cardiac arrest, a madarasa teacher by drowning in Sangabettu and another by jumping into river Papanashini in Udyavar have already been reported.

More unnatural deaths have been reported from the two districts during the last two days.

Vanishri (26), hailing from Karbunekkila of Aivattoklu in Sullia taluk who was a teacher at Knanaya Jyoti English-medium School in Kadaba, had been admitted a hospital in Puttur as she was in the late stage of pregnancy. She gave birth to a male child on Sunday. But she suffered severe bleeding soon thereafter. As she was being taken to Mangaluru for advanced treatment, she is said to have died on the way.


Ramesh D S (69) of Govindaraj Nagar in Bengaluru had arrived to be at the Power Parba event organized by women entrepreneurs in the MGM College campus in Kunjibettu in Udupi. On Sunday, as he got down from a bus and was trying to cross the road to visit the stall run by his wife, an unidentified vehicle hit him and sped away. Critically injured, he was rushed to a hospital in Manipal.But he breathed his last by the same evening.

Seetamma (79), wife of Bhujanga Naik of Devinagar in Parkala, had suffered severe burn injuries on Feb 6. The mishap took place as her sari caught fire when she was boiling water in the kitchen. She was rushed to the Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru. But she succumbed to the injuries.

Mrinal (3), son of Sushma of Korangrapadi Kemtur in Udupi taluk, accidentally fell into a pond as he happened to follow his grandmother who had gone to bring back grazing cattle. It was not noticed by anyone. When he was not found anywhere, a search was made. As he was taken out of the unprotected pond, his condition was quite critical. He was taken to a hospital but his life coult not be saved.

Sumant (14), son of Narayan Manohar of Indiranagar and a student of standard IX, had gone to the upper floor of a building under construction while playing with his friends Alfaz and Farooq on Sunday. Sumant is said to have fallen down the stairs and got severely injured. The other two ran and informed his family. He was taken to a hospital at once but he did not survive.
