Muthappa was working as a daily wage labourer and Shobha without having a permanent job was staying at home most of the time. From the past three days Shobha was missing, when asked about Shobha with her husband Muthappa said that she had gone to her native place in Bagalkot.
After recovering the body the police got suspicious and searched the house of Muthappa. During the search, police found blood stains in the house and also signs of attempt being made to destroy evidence.
