Mangaluru: Eid Milad-un-Nabi Processions Allowed to be Held Like Before

Mangaluru: The Muslim community observes Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of prophet Muhammed, every year.

In the city and around, processions are taken out and meetings are held. This year, however, restrictions had been imposed on the observance, in view of certain unpleasant developments in the district. The observance is scheduled to be held on Dec 24.

The community leaders held a meeting in the circuit house in the city and requested district’s minister-in-charge B Ramanath Rai to maintain a status quo and allow the arrangements to be continued as usual.

The minister agreed after getting an assurance and an undertaking from the community leaders that the proceedings would be held in a disciplined and responsible manner.
