Mangaluru: Faculty Development Program on ‘Research Methodology’ at Sahyadri

Mangaluru: Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management organized One Day Faculty Development Program on Research Methodology on 08 January 2016 in collaboration with Mangalore University.


The program was inaugurated by Dr P. S Yadapadithaya, Professor, Department of Commerce, Mangalore University. The chief guest conveyed his happiness over the conduct of the program as it was a byproduct of the MOU signed between Mangalore University and Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management. He praised the visionary Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management for his astute passion towards development of research. Dr. A P Achar, Director, Department of Business Administration Sahyadri welcomed the gathering and gave the birds eye view of the program to the audience. The program was presided over by Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. Dr Vishal Samartha, Chief Coordinator FDP proposed the vote of thanks.

Sixty five under graduate college teachers participated in the program. In the first Session, Dr. P. S Yadapadithaya, Professor, Department of Commerce, Mangalore University spoke on Research design- Research problem definition, formulation of objectives and hypothesis. It was followed with the second session by Dr. Raveendranath Nayak, Director, School of Management, Manipal University.

He gave an insight on review of literature, finding research gap and quantitative data collection. In the afternoon Dr. T Mallikarjunappa, Professor, Department of Management Studies, Mangalore University touched upon key topics of Questionnaire design survey, interview and case study methods and sampling approaches. The last session was delivered by Dr Krishna Kothai, Development Scientist, Azim Premji University, Bangalore. He enlightened the participants on few grey areas in Research.

The program received an overwhelming response from the teaching fraternity and the host was delighted by the overall feedback from the paRTICIPANTS.
