Mangaluru: Fishing Boat Sinks at Mid-sea – Five on Board Rescued by Another Craft

Mangaluru: A fishing boat bearing name Asha Deep, owned by Ramesh Putran of Boloor, had sailed off the old port on a fishing mission on Thursday around 4-30 pm.

As it reached the estuary, its engine failed and got stranded at mid-sea. It had to be anchored at the spot. On account of rough seas and powerful winds, it began sinking.

Manja, pilot Nagaraj, Hanumant, Suresh and Shivanand, all from Uttar Kannada district, were on board. They were rescued by the crew of another boat which happened to pass by.

Putran has filed a complaint at the Panambur police station reporting a loss of Rs 12 lakh in the mishap.
