Mangaluru: Even though the news came late on Thursday evening that BJP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad had called for a Dakshina Kannada bundh on Friday,  November 13, the city wore a deserted look early Friday morning as all the businesses were closed, buses and auto-rickshaws were off the road. The bundh call was given by BJP and VHP following the murder of 28 year old Harish in Bantwal Taluk. The DC has even imposed section 144 in DK/Mangaluru for 24 hours-even schools and colleges were ordered to close. Due to section 144, the DC has also prohibited BJP and VHP to hold in any protest today.

With no buses plying, commuters were stranded at the bus stand and bus stops. A few auto-rickshaws that were seen running around for few hours in the morning were stopped by saffron activists and ordered to stop doing business. With auto-rickshaws off the road, taxi drivers near railway stations were charging enormous rates for people who wanted to hire them- taxi business was brisk at both the railway stations.

Commuters were seen walking to their destinations-few were even flagging two-wheelers for a free-ride. This bundh has put travellers and the common man in a very hard situation in reaching to their destinations. With the restaurants also closed, travellers have been left without having their morning food- if they were looking for water/snacks to quench their thirst/hunger, the petty shops were also closed. A few street side food stalls were seen doing brisk business in serving coffee/tea and snacks, other than that if you are looking for a decent restaurant/hotel you are out of luck.

Dc has also issued orders that no protests or meetings would be held on Friday. Permissions for demonstrations have been cancelled. Additional forces, including Rapid action Force personnel have been requisitioned to maintain law and order in the district. For how long the section 144 will be in force depends on the situation.

  1. Bandh should be banned. Whoever calls for Bandh should be forced to pay huge amount of money to compensate for all the loss in revenue. Depending on the areas impacted, the amount should also vary. There should be no place for these Bandhs in modern india!!

On a different note, mangaluru is one rusted, filthy looking city!!! Even when the traffic is dead and streets are deserted, the city looks very dull and sad. The lack of good infrastructure and poor planning is quite evident in all the pics above!! Oh well…

  2. Dear readers,

Today’s Modi’s India ‘Ban’ and ‘Bundh’ became norms once only restrictricted to communist ruled West Bengal and Kerala. While Modi is hard selling is ‘Chai’ for foreign investors through FDI,choice of eating habits may even become life threat but porn is encouraged.

Ab ki bar Modi sarkar,Beef hoga Ban,porn hoga aam. Sab ka saath sabka vikas, hoga vat.

    Jai hind
