Mangaluru: Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrations at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru: Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated in the school on October 2, 2015. The programme began at 8.45 am with a prayer service followed by the significance of the day.

As part of the cultural programme, students of Class VIII A and B performed group songs and dances with rhythm, coordination and harmony to grace the celebration. A skit on “honesty” was enacted highlighting the Gandhian principles of truth, peace and non violence. Meghana welcomed the gathering, while Leroy proposed the vote of thanks Saakshi and Shaima compered the programme.

After the formal function, students from Class IV – XII were involved in the “Cleanliness Drive – Swatch Bhaarath, Swatch Vidyalay”. The classes were allotted various areas, both within the campus and the surrounding public places to clean. The students participated in it with great enthusiasm with their hats and gloves on. The cleanliness drive made the students proud to hold brooms and dusters in their hands along with their teachers and gather the waste thrown in the public places. It was indeed a day of satisfaction and joy, to be part of the “Clean City of Mangaluru”.

The KG and lower primary students had their celebration on the previous day, where the nursery and LKG kids came up to the stage in their colourful costume, surprising their parents present, by their performances.
