Mangaluru: Highway Work Causes Confusion – Eight Injured in Collision of Cars at Pavanje

Mangaluru: Glen Tauro from Bantakal in Udupi district, who was driving a car, and three others who were with him, Ishaq Ahmed, Mohammed Ashraf, Muzammil and another who were in another car were injured when the two vehicles collided on the national highway no. 66 at Pavanje around 6-40 am on Tuesday.

The first car was on its way from the airport towards Shankerpura and other one was arriving towards Suratkal. Traffic was disrupted for some time. The traffic police from Suratkal arrived and cleared the jam.

Owing to highway upgradation, traffic is being allowed only on one side of the dual carriageway. But no proper hazard signs have been erected, say regular motorists.

Confusion prevails regarding lane to be taken and often switching to single and double tracks lands them into trouble, especially between sunset and morning, they add.
