Mangaluru: Hurricane, the Traction Champion

Mangaluru: Hurricane, a All-Terrain Vehicle designed by Mechanical Engineering students of Canara Engineering College, Mangaluru stood first in the weight pulling event in national level Baja Student India 2016 vehicle race recently held at Buddh International Circuit, Noida. The team stood in 18th place was an improved performance.


Hurricane winning the Traction Test is an important ability of a vehicle by which it can pull other vehicles. The competition was to pull a MAHINDRA SCORPIO ( 2600kg) for a distance of 100ft. Hurricane could pull the Scorpio within a remarkable time of 10.991 secs to win the Traction Event. Vehicle design and the transmission system of Hurricane was the key point of success in the event. The team has bagged an overall rank – 23rd, Endurance position – 18th. and a trophy for the 1st place in traction event. We are thankful to our college management (Canara High School Association), H.O.D of Mechanical Department and all the teaching and non-teaching faculty for their immense support during the making of Hurricane.
