Mangaluru: IGP’s Cash Reward to Cops for Quick Arrest of Koila Sexual Assault Accused

Mangaluru: A 16-year-old student had been sexually assaulted by a stranger when she was returning home alone at Kadaba Padavu in Puttur taluk on June 20.
In a rapid joint operation, additional SP Vincent Shantakumar, Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar, Puttur subdivision DySP Bhaskar Rai, police teams from Bantwal, Puttur and Kadaba began a manhunt which continued overnight.
Within 24 hours, the culprit was identified and arrested by the Kadaba police. He has been charged under the POCSO Act and a court has sent him to judicial custody up to July 7.
In appreciation of the cops’ efficient handling of the case, Amrit Paul, the western range inspector general of police based in the city, has announced a cash reward of Rs 35,000 to the entire team of police.
