Mangaluru: International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) held a press meet at the press Club Urwa here, on February 4.
Addressing the mediapersons, Organising Secretary, Devotee Sanandana Dasa said, “The ISCKON Mangaluru Branch is organising the 13th Annual Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Ratha Yatra festival on Saturday, 6 February starting from City Centre Mall at 5:15 pm. This journey of festival is being enacted when 5000 years ago Krishna Balarama brothers undertook a journey in Vrindavan in Mathura on a chariot to grant audience to all their devotees and also fashioned in the lines of most famous Ratha yatra of Jagannatha Puri symbolising pulling the Lord into our hearts. The Yatra will be inaugurated by B Ramanath Rai, Minister of Forest, Environment and Ecology; Vinay Hegde, Chancellor Nitte University will be the Chief Guest with the holy presence of Sri Vishwavallabha Teertha Swamiji, Sri Sode Vadiraja Math, Udupi. Chanchalapati Dasa, Vice-President of ISCKON Bengaluru and Vice-Chairman of the Akshaya Patra Foundation will preside over the function. ”
He further said “The colourful Ratha Yatra will be Flagged Off after an inaugural special Puja at 5:45 pm from the City Centre Mall. The majestically decorated and illuminated spectacular chariot carrying the Deities of Sri Krishna Balarama will proceed from City Centre Mall to Hampankatta Market Road and culminate at C V Nayak Hall at 8:30 pm which will be followed by Sansirtan, Maha Mangala Arati and serving of Prasadam by the volunteers.”
“The entire procession will be spiritually powered by the loud and ecstatic chanting and reciting of the Hare Krishna Hare Rama kirtans by the devotees accompanied by dancing in front of the chariot by the followers,” he added.
