Mangaluru: Jewellers May Shut down for 3 Days in Protest against New Excise Levy

Mangaluru: Gold and diamond traders nationwide are up in arms over the budgetary proposal for an additional 1% excise cess.

In keeping with the decisions taken by the national-level traders’ associations, the local merchants are likely to down their shutters for three days from March 2.

However, since this is a season of weddings, there would many shops who would prefer not to lose business.
