When asked about the rebel candidates, Ramanath Rai said, “JP Hegde carried out all the development work through the Congress party. When he submitted his nomination, we never threatened him, but only asked him to step down in a polite way.”

Speaking about Prathapchandra Shetty, the candidate fielded by Congress, Ramanath Rai said, “He never demanded a ticket; he deserved it. He is not a corrupt politician. He is so honest that whenever he goes to a panchayat office, he will even pay the money for his coffee.”

  1. JP Hegde will carry out development as well work where ever he goes regardless any party ! it is not party matter , it is an individuals effort/ commitment representing people to get the maximum benefits from the state as well central government of india,

there are too many old people in congress over 30-40 years doing nothing and enjoying party money with couple of groups ! that’s all …… they dont bother at all what our udupi/ dk needs as a basic infrastructure like agricultural/ employment/ roads/ housing for poor people/ good policy / good governance / good law and order etc

  2. I agree with Ram that a decent and honest politician with firm conviction and vision and is driven to serve the people he represents irrespective of his/her party affiliation. It is not the party that does the work, it is the work of honest and hard working people that brings credit to the party they represent. Unfortunately, we have very few stalwarts of that character in Congress party today and most of them use the party platform to further their interest.

  3. Ramanathanna,
For you party first and person next.

For people who look for character, development, person first. Their party affiliation does not matter.

We thought Congress will be a good alternative to BJP. You guys have disappointed us completely. Your party did not use the right opportunity. Even if you wake up now. It is too late.

Hope a day will come, people first, development first and the party last.

Hope JP Hegde wins this time.
