Mangaluru: Karnataka Coast Guard Rescues Ailing Foreign Master Shipman on Sail

Mangaluru: Borivoje Milinovic (61), the master of a merchant ship which was on sail from Gujarat to Malaysia, suddenly fell ill earlier this week.

He suffered from high blood pressure and ran the risk of a cardiac arrest on account of it. The ship personnel sent an SOS e-mail to the Mumbai coast guard officials.

They tracked down the movement of the ship and found it to be moving near the Karnataka coast. The Mumbai officials alerted their Mangaluru counterparts.

The coast guard personnel in Mangaluru established contact with the ship and rushed a medical team to it.

Master Milinonovic, said to be a national of Montenegro, a former Yugoslav state which is not an independent country, was brought ashore and admitted to A J Hospital for immediate attention and treatment.

His condition is said to be stable now.
