Mangaluru: KMC Hospital, Launches Telemedicine consultation with Kudumbashree centre, Kollam

Mangaluru: KMC Hospital in collaboration with Kerala Telemedicine Project and ILFS, Noida, Launched Telemedicine facility for the first time in between Karnataka and Kerala Center at Kollam. The Tele medicine Center was inaugurated by Dr Chakrapani M, Associate Dean KMC Mangalore and Dr Unnikrishnan B, Associate Dean of KMC, Mangalore on 28, May, 2015.

Dr Sheetal Raj, Consultant General Medicine of KMC Hospital had given the first Telemedicine session to Diabetic patients at Kollam Telemedicine Center. Dr Sheetal Raj explained the patients about diabetes management, care, its effects, control method and importance of exercise. In Kollam Telemedicine center Dr Shalini and other supporting staff from Kudumbashree were present with the patients. Around 15 patients had attended and asked questions about Diabetes to Dr Sheetal Raj.

The Diabetic patients expressed their immense satisfaction by this session.

The Telemedicine center is located in Karunagapally about 27 kms from Kollam. Dr Anand Venugopal Medical Superintendent stated that this is a pilot project and around 25 such kudumbashree centres will be offered telemedicine service in the coming days. He also added that KMC Hospital will strive to provide advanced facilities for the benefit of the people.

Saghir Siddiqui, Unit Head of KMC Hospitals was also present on the occasion.
