Mangaluru: The Komu Sauharda Vedike will organize a day-long state-level Convention “Sahabalve Sagara”, at the Town Hall on January 30, said the general secretary, Central committee of KSV K L Ashok, in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on January 27.
Addressing the mediapersons Ashok said that all preparations for the Convention are in progress and the state committee is all set to hold the convention on January 30. The cultural programme will start sharp at 9:00 am and senior stage artiste SadanandaSuvarna will inaugurate the programme at the Kudmul Ranga Rao stage.
To mark the convention a Jatha will be held from Netravati to Malaprabha, from Shishunala to Sharavati, Baba Budangiri to Sitabhadra, Srirangapattana to Shambhavi-Kaveri, Ankola to Sowparnika-Shalmala, Chikkaballapura Tathayya Kumaradhara-Phalguni and from Mauneshwar Thinthani Kali to Krishna Jatha. All the Jathas will be flagged off from their respective constituencies on January 28 and will culminate inMangaluru on January 29.
The main entrance of the cultural programme venue will be named after the Research scholar Rohit Vemula. The convention will be inaugurated by noted Indian writerBaraguru Ramachandrappa at 10:15 am at the Siri stage. Noted writer ChandrashekharPatil will deliver talk on ‘Jatyathitha Samaja – Dharmika Sahabalve’. Dr Shivacharya,Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar, Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza, Bodhi Datta Bhantheji will be the guests and former minister B T Lalita will preside over the programme.
The Health and family welfare minister U T Khader, Minister Satish Jarakiholi, Indian civil rights activist Teesta Setalvad, National leader of Swaraj Abhiyan Yogendra Yadavand other leaders will be the guests for the valedictory programme. Gaurish Lankesh will preside over the concluding ceremony.
A stage play “Kondavararu” will be staged by Spandana Sagar team.
General secretary Ummer U H, Sajida Mumin, Suresh Bhat Bakrebail, Nandagopal S, Ismail Karvel and Gulabi Bilimale were also present in the pressmeet.
