Mangaluru: Lecturer Rasheeda Banu Passes in First Attempt, with 2nd Largest Margin

Mangaluru: Rasheeda Banu, a lecturer of Political Science at Syed Madani College in Ullal, had jumped into the zilla panchayat election fray with encouragement from her father and husband.

As not many educated women from her community try their hand in politics, quite naturally, a lot of interest had been generated about the result of Konaje seat.

She has won the seat for Congress with the second highest margin of 4480 in the district. The record of the highest margin has gone to Harish Kanjipili, BJP Sullia taluk president, from Arantodu with a margin of 4491.

The next two slots are held by Padmashekhar Jain of Congress (4352) from Sarapadi in Bantwal and Asha Thimmappa of the BJP (4010).
