MUDA Chairman, Ibrahim Kodijal addressing the gathering said, “I congratulate Prathpchandra Shetty on behalf of DCC and the party workers. I thank all the party workers for their collective efforts for the success of our candidate Pratapchandra Shetty”.

Addressing the gathering Dr Veerappa Moily said, “I congratulate Pratapchandra Shetty for winning the MLC elections inspite of the rebel candidates from the party claimed they would win the election. This is actually a victory for the Congress party and has proved that the congress party is above any individual. Even though 2 rebel candidates from the party had contested the elections against Pratapchandra Shetty, Pratapchandra won the elections with 2237 votes and proved that congress party workers are united. If the party workers are united and work for the party we can win all the elections, this victory is a lesson to all those who go against the party, they will be the losers and not the party”.

Moily further said that the opposition leader Eshwarappa had challenged that if the congress would win more seats than the BJP in the MLC elections, he will take ‘political sanyasa’. Now since the congress has win more seats than BJP, let Eshwarappa take ‘political Sanyasa’, he said.

Senior Congress leader and MP, Rajya Sabha Oscar Fernandes, congratulated Pratapchandra Shetty for winning the MLC election and said, “I am very happy that the congress party has won this election with majority of votes. The party workers have worked hard for the success in this elections. We have to continue our efforts for the success in the forthcoming Taluk panchayat and Zilla panchayat elections. Collective efforts of the party workers will surely bring positive results. All the party workers should work hard to strengthen the party from its roots and win the forthcoming elections with a huge margin. The Congress party has always stood the test of time and come out with flying colours”.

Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the victory of Pratapchandra Shetty is a stepping stone for the forthcoming TP and ZP elections. When Pratapchandra was in power he has implemented all the development projects. Some rebel leaders spoke against Pratapchandra Shetty and tried to spread false rumours against him but they did not succeed in their efforts. In the MLC elections BJP had more voters than Congress but they have failed to get more votes. He also advised the party workers to work hard for the success in the forthcoming elections.

District minister in-charge Ramanath Rai, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Former Mayor Shashidhar Hegde and others were also present.
