Mangaluru: Life Threat to Youth Congress president Mithun Rai on Social Media, Case Filed

Mangaluru: District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai filed a complaint in the Kadri Police Station after receiving life threats through the social media here, on August 16.

Earlier in a blog, Mithun Rai was targeted and defamed for hoisting the Youth Congress flag on a flag post meant to hoist the National flag on August 9 at Assaigoli. In this connection on August 12, derogatory comments were published on a blog and the members of the Youth Congress had submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner to arrest the blog admin.

On August 14, the BJP Yuva Morcha also staged a protest against Mithun Rai without obtaining permission from the police and all the protesters were arrested.

Speaking to mangalorean.com, Mithun Rai said, “On August 16, in a Facebook page named “Veera Kesari”, derogatory comments have been published against me alleging that I have addressed the “Hindu Lion” Prabhakar Bhat in singular. In the comments published, there have been threats on my life. I have filed a complaint in the Kadri police station.”

He also said that inciting comments have been published on Veera Kesari.

A case has been registered under IPC Section 504, 507 and IT act 66a (b) in the Kadri police station.
