Mangaluru: The owners and residents of the Alison Heights apartment condominium located in Balikashrama Road in Kankanady were in a shock as one of them was picked up by the city crime bureau police.
Muneer Ahmed aka ‘Goods’ Muneer (56) is said to be involved in over 50 cases ranging from the lifting of two-wheelers and other vehicles to communal clashes. Of them, 22 have been registered in the city north station alone.
Police sources said that he is also facing a charge of cheating in a police station in Thalassery in Kerala. His tryst with crime reportedly began in the 1980s.
He is also said to have evaded arrest warrants. Once in the past, when a judgement was to be pronounced, he had fled from the court premises.
Sources also said that he had borrowed heavily from different persons. When they pressed for repayment, he had made it a practice to file complaints of human rights violations through his wife.
The operation was led by CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza under orders from city police commissioner Murugan and guidance from law and order DCP K M Shantaraju.
