Mangaluru: Man Peddling Ganja to Youngsters Nabbed at Old Port

Mangaluru: The CCB police from the city caught Abdul Rahim (40) aka ‘Kandi’ Rahim aka ‘Goods’ Rahim, a resident of Ansari Cross Road, who was found peddling ganja (hemp, cannabis) to students and youngsters near one of the jetties at the old port here on Tuesday.

Under orders from city police commissioner Murugan and guidance from DCP law and order K M Shantaraju, the operation was conducted by CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza, sub inspector Shyamsundar and team.

He was found having parked his new Honda Activa scooter, bearing no registration number, at the spot and peddling the stuff in small sachets.

Ganja weighing 1.350 kgs, expected to fetch Rs 20,000 in illegal trade, two gold chains, two rings, two mobile phones and the scooter – all aggregately valued at Rs 2.40 lakh – were seized from him.

On interrogation, he was found to be facing more cases of theft and ganja peddling. The case has been handed over to city north police station.
