Mangaluru: Mangala Stadium to Host State Level Sports Meet

Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Pre-University College held a press meet at the Press Club here, on November 30.

Addressing the media persons, Krishna Prasad Rai, the Correspondent of Ramakrishna Pre-University, said that the Government of Karnataka, the Pre-University Education Department Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada, the Bunts Alias Nadavara Mathr Sangha and Sri Ramakrishna Pre-University College are jointly organizing a state Level athletic meet from December 3 to December 6 at the Mangala Stadium, Lalbagh.


Around 2500 students from 31 districts are likely to participate in this event. Winners securing first, second and third places will be felicitated and awarded certificates. Participants will be given free boarding and lodging facilities at the Ramakrishna Educational Campus and Lady Victoria Educational Institutions for Girls in Lady Hill.

Such sports meets help in personality development of the students and encourage them to participate in nation building efforts. A procession of all the participating athletes will be taken from Kadri Sri Manjunatha Swami Temple to Mangala Stadium on 3 December at 3 pm.

The Three day sports meet will be inaugurated by B Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, in the presence of Health and Family Welfare minister U T Khader and minister of Youth Services and Sports Abhayachandra Jain. The function will also be presided over by MLA JR Lobo and other dignitaries.

The closing ceremony of the sports meet will be held on 6 December at 2 pm. Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi of the Bunts Alias Nadavaru Mathr Sangha will preside over the function. The function will be attended by other dignitaries as well.
