Mangaluru: MCC Chosen for Amrutha Yojane – Sudhir Shetty

Mangaluru: MCC opposition leader, Sudhir Shetty held a press meet at the Press Club, Urwa here, on December 18.

Addressing the mediapersons, Sudhir Shetty said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government, Mangalore City Corporation has been chosen for “Amrutha Yojane”. Under this scheme, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 200 crore for development works in Mangaluru. 50% of the funds for this scheme will be provided by the central government and 35% by the state government. The remaining 15% of the funds have to be given by MCC.

“The proposal for the distribution of Amrutha Yojane Grant was sent by the MLAs and the Mayor to the central government, without the knowledge of MCC members and approval of the parishat. As a result of unscientific proposal submitted by the Mayor and MLAs, adequate amount of funds were not sanctioned under this scheme for the first two years,” he added.

He further said, “So far no grants have been received by the local administration directly by the central government. We thank our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allocating the funds to our city through Amrutha scheme. We also thank Minister of Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu for choosing our city.”
