Mangaluru: Nationwide Bandh Claims 32-year-old Naveen Monteiro’s Life

Mangaluru: A 32-year-old man drowned in at Someshwar here, on September 2.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Monteiro (32), son of Peter Monteiro, a resident of Thokottu.

According to the police, as there was a bandh on September 2, Naveen along with his friends went to swim in the pond in Someshwar. While they were swimming in the pond,  Naveen drowned. His friends rushed to rescue him and succeeded in pulling him out of the pond.

He was rushed to the Netaji hospital where he breathed his last. Later, his body was shifted to K S Hegde Hospital for post mortem.

As soon as the tragic news of Naveen’s death spread, a large number of friends and well-wishers gathered at the hospital. Health and family welfare minister U T Khader visited the hospital and consoled the family members.

Naveen’s wedding was fixed in December 2015. A case has been registered in the Ullalpolice station.
