Mangaluru: “In a unique initiative to bring people of all walks of life together through dance, Navaras Mangaluru, the Cultural wing of Centre for Integrated Learning, will be organizing Navaras Utsav 2015 at St. Agnes Auditorium in the city on Sunday, July 26. Blind students of Catherine and Roman Lobo School, Special children from Saanidhya Residential School for Mentally Challenged, elders from Little Sisters of the Poor Old Age Home, inmates of Samvedhana and Sneha Sadana Children’s Home, kids from Bhagini Samaj orphanage, housewives, employees and professionals, school and college students will perform with the theme of `Colours of India’. The occasion also coincides with Kargil Vijay Divas” said Sachitha Nandagopal-Executive Director, Centre for Integrated Learning, during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club.
Navaras Utsav, which will be inaugurated by Minister for Health and Family Welfare, U T Khader will bring together over 150 performers under one roof, making it a special congregation spreading the message of brotherhood and harmony. Each group will be performing one dance sequence depicting the rich cultural heritage of our country. While the elders of old age home will dance to the tune of a Konkani song, Housewives will perform a Kashmiri dance as employees depict Kerala’s Mapillai culture. Tiny tots will put steps to a patriotic song while college students will perform a Gujarati dance and so on.
Noted Bharatanatyam performer and dance teacher leading Nada Nrithya School of Dance, Mangalore, Vidushi Bhramari Shivaprakash will be the guest of honour and Principal of St. Agnes College, Sr. Supriya will grace the occasion. Navaras is a unique concept of Hobby Dancers’ Club which intends to bring people passionate about dance, together and provide a platform to exhibit their talents on different occasions.
CRESTival 2015- a Leaders Conclave
Celebrating the five years of fruitful existence, the youth wing of Centre for Integrated Learning will be organizing an inter-collegiate Leaders Conclave, CRESTival 2015 in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St Agnes College at the college auditorium on Saturday (July 25).
The day long deliberations with the theme of `Leadership and Service’ will feature various competitive events like presentation of socially relevant project, turn-coat, banner and painting, essay among others. The event will be inaugurated by Prof. Tara Kulkarni, an illustrious Mangalorean who is presently an Environment Engineer at Norwich University, USA.
Dr. Malini Hebbar, Co-ordinator, IQAC, St. Agnes College (Autonomous) ; Geeta Kishore, Banker and Member of Navaras Hobby Dancer’s Club, and Varadraj Mallya- Co-Convener of CRESTival were also present during the press meet.
