Mangaluru: NDRF Holds Mock Exercise at LPG Plant of HPCL

Mangaluru: A mock exercise on the hazards of gas leakage, its effects and as to how to handle it was conducted at the LPG plant of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited here on Tuesday.

It was organized under the aegis of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Over 3,000 personnel drawn from different departments like the police and healthand homeguards took part in the mock operation of an LPG leakage.

Additional deputy commissioner Kumar said that because of the whole-hearted cooperation from all the departments concerned it was a big success.

Speaking on the occasion, district superintendent of police Dr Sharanappa S D said that the city had a large number of industries around and regular exercises of this kind were necessary create awareness and give guidance in the event of industrial disasters.

Emergency coordinator of NDRF in the state, K K Pradeep said that there was a proposal to set up an NDRF in Mangaluru. Training was being imparted to the designated personnel in Bengaluru.
