Mangaluru: Pavur Kadavu Drowning Victim Luqman (21) Still Untraced – Search to Continue

Mangaluru: Luqman (21), who had drowned when a boat capsized in river Netravati on Wednesday, July 29, remained untraced even until late evening on Friday, even after 72 hours had elapsed.

The mishap took place when the craft which he and a few relatives were rowing with sand on board. Two of them had swum to safety, while another two had been rescued by an autorickshaw driver.

Ever since, firemen, assisted by local divers and swimming experts have been on a search mission, which proved futile even by late evening on the third day.

Search was made for two days around the place of the tragedy. On Friday, the operation was extended to Ullal, the estuary, Uchila and other areas.

The operation will continue on Saturday. Because of rains and floods, it is feared that the body may have drifted away towards sea. But the team has not given up hopes.
