Mangaluru: Phalguni Drowning Case – Body of Ramesh Found, Tony Still Missing

Mangaluru: Ramesh (30) from Kodikal Kalbavi and Tony Tavares (28) from Tarigudde Neermarga, who worked for a catering firm, had gone to collect shellfish from river Phalguni near the Adyapady dam on Tuesday. They got caught in the river currents and were feared to have drowned.

A thorough search was made all along downstream until late night on Tuesday but there was no success. On Wednesday morning, information that a body had been spotted in Tokur was received. On inspection, it was identified as that of Ramesh. It was lifted and taken for autopsy.

Search continued for Tony Tavares in a joint operation by the fire brigade, diving experts and the public until late evening on Wednesday but it was of no avail. The efforts are expected to continue on Thursday.
