Mangaluru: Phalguni Drowning Incident – Body of Tony Tavares Also Found

Mangaluru: Two friends and colleagues, Ramesh and Tony Tavares, had drowned in river Phalguni at the Adyapadi dam near Moodushedde while having gone to pick clams on Tuesday.

As they were missing for a long time, a massive search operation had been on. Until late evening of Tuesday, there was no success. On Tuesday, the body of Ramesh was found downstream at Tokur near Jokatte. But Tony was still missing until late Tuesday evening.

There was an apprehension that with the powerful flow of water in the river caused by heavy rains, the body might have been washed away into the sea. But it was found at Nadusalu in Kenjar on Wednesday. Tony hailed from Tarigudde in Neermarga.

Both were employed in a catering firm and after work had gone to collect clams where they got pulled away by river currents.

Firemen, divers and locals made tremendous efforts in tracing both the bodies.
