Mangaluru: Police Administration Suspends Two Cops for Inappropriate Conduct

Mangaluru: Dr Sharanappa S D, the district’s superintendent of police, has ordered the suspension from service of an assistant sub inspector serving under his jurisdiction, pending enquiry against him.

Rukmaya Kulal, the ASI at the town police station in Puttur, has been placed under suspension on grounds of inappropriate conduct and dereliction of duty.

Sadashiva (42), who was caught and beaten up by the public at a mall for misbehaving with a girl, also has been suspended from service.

There is a feeling among the public that some of the lower-rung police personnel take undue advantage of their khakhi uniform to harass the citizens or to obtain personal benefit.

Many citizens have felt that it is a good sign that the higher-ups take action to keep up the dignity of the police force and that such a step would serve as a deterrent against future violations.
