Mangaluru: Police Bus Rolls Over at Kalghatagi After Shifting Undertrails to Belagavi Jail

Mangaluru: Police personnel escaped unhurt after their escort vehicle skidded at Kalghatagi in Hubballi here on November 5, late night.

According to sources the escort vehicle was returning after shifting the undertrails from the district sub jail to Belagavi. When they reached near Kalghatagi, the driver of the bus lost control while negotiating a curve, the bus skidded and rolled to the side of the road. All the seven policemen miraculously escaped.

After the gang war in the district sub-jail, and the murder of Madoor Isubu and Ganesh Shetty, the home department directed to shift 16 noted undertrails to various jails as a precautionary measure and to prevent such untoward incidents repeating in the jails in future. Based on the order 16 undertrials were shifted to different jails. Out of the 16, three were shifted to the Belagavi jail.

The incident took place when the police were returning from Belagavi after shifting the noted undertrails Naveen, satish and Mahesh.
