Mangaluru: Projects Worth Rs 725 Crore Investment For Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: The Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim held a meeting of the representatives of various Departments of Industries and Commerce at his Office in State Bank here, on January 7.

Ibrahim said that Karnataka State is going to hold investors meet, ‘Invest Karnataka’ on February 3 to 5. “There have been many road shows as a part of this meet and Dakshina Kannada will also organize a meet, ‘Invest Dakshina Kannada’ on January 12 at the TMA Pai Convention Center,” he added.

Prospective investment opportunities were discussed at the meet. A LPG bottling plant, steel plant, chemical and water treatment plant, pharma Park, garment and apparel factory, wellness spa and boat center are some of the highlighted projects worth Rs 725 crore in investment towards the district. Further expansion of MRPL and a pharmacy park are also in the books. The Department of Tourism came forward with a proposal of constructing hotels and resorts with a total investment of Rs 59 crore.

Government of Karnataka launched a new policy for Industry and Tourism 2014-19. The policy promotes development of Start-Up’s and other commercial institutions.

“Dakshina Kannada is the only district which is most favored for investment in projects that require water resources. Karwar is a strategic naval base, Udupi district is a fisherman’s paradise and industries can’t be set up there, further Kerala is a tourist destination,” Ibrahim said.

Ibrahim further said, “Any new investment ideas and proposals are welcome from anyone and can be put forward on January 12 at Invest Dakshina Kannada.”

The investors meet will be inaugurated by District Minister in-charge, B Ramanath Rai in the presence of Minister for Health and Family Welfare, UT Khader and Minister for Youth Services, Sports and Fisheries, K Abhaychandra Jain.
