Addressing the mediapersons, Prathap said, “BJP has won the district ZP elections for the third consecutive term. If we analyze the recent ZP and TP election results, they indicate that because of the people friendly policies of the BJP, people have elected us again in the district. This is a warning bell for the Congress party as the results indicates our victory in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections as well.”

He further said, “Congress has not given any concrete decisions to the issues faced by the people of DK. Since Congress is the ruling party, they have a lot of pride. Congress had the ‘ruling party advantage’ and have misused their power. They have registered false cases, indulged in transfers of officials and have played with the feelings of the people and that is why the people of Dakshina Kannada have rejected them.”

Prathap took a dig at the District Minister in-charge and said, “BJP had introduced the multi-village water supply project to benefit the people of Dakshina Kannada, but the current District Minister in-charge has not given water to the entire district but has limited the water supply to Bantwal only. He is acting as in-charge minister for Bantwal Taluk and not the entire district. If you continue to play with the feelings of the people, you will continue to face rejection.” He said that BJP has always worked in favour of the people; be it in the struggle for Kumki rights, 9/11, 94C, Yettinahole or the issues with Ration Cards and the party would continue the struggle for the people of Dakshina Kannada.

When asked about the loss of BJP in Mangaluru and Bantwal Taluk, Prathap said, “As I said earlier, Congress had the advantage of the ruling party in Bantwal Taluk, whereas Mangaluru Taluk was never a stronghold for BJP.” He said that the selection of the next Zilla Panchayat President will be done after seeking guidance from the senior party leaders and opinion of the party members.

He declined to comment on Janardhan Poojary and said, “If I make any comment taking his name, he will simply call another press meet tomorrow.” On future struggle against the Yettinahole project, Prathap said, “Within a week, we will decide the future course of action.”

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Former MLC K Monappa Bhandary, Kishore Rai and others were present.
