Mangaluru: Three unidentified persons, under the guise of customers, had arrived at the premises of Muthoott Mini Finance on Dec 5 as the staffers had just opened the doors for business.
While two of them kept asking for the parity rate of gold for securing loans, another crossed inside the counter, flashing a firearm. With extreme presence of mind and taking a risk, a woman employee had activated the secret alarm. The miscreants fled the place and a major loot was averted.
The CCB police have now arrested the culprits. They are Anil Kumar Y N alias Arhan (29) and Harish (28) of Periyapatna, Prasad (21) of Byakaravahalli in Hassan district, Two others are also said to have been involved in the robbery attempt. A search is on for them.
All the three reportedly worked in Mangaluru earlier and were familiar with the places here. A desire to get rich quickly is said to have led them to take up this adventure.
