Bajpe/Mangaluru: “Service Above Self”, being the primary motto, members of Rotary Club-Bajpe strive to be the agent of social change in the local community that they so dearly love and cherish. Yet another project was added to the credit of various community projects undertaken so far since the inception of the Club. The inauguration of the free tailoring classes under the banner of Rotary Club Bajpe and Samanvaya Mangalore took place at the Rotary Bhavana main hall. Forty five ladies who had registered for the course joined in the inauguration celebration along with Rotarians, well-wishers and guests.
The six month free tailoring course was inaugurated by chief guest Jockim D’ Costa, a proactive Taluk Panchayat by lighting the traditional lamp, along with Rotary Club-Bajpe president Rtn Robert Franklin, other club board members and guests of honor. Inaugurating the programme, D’Costa said, ” This is a great project undertaken by the local Rotarians for the benefit of women who can learn the tailoring trade, and later open their own tailoring business or work from their homes. Local women should avail this great offer from the Rotarians who are doing a yeomen service to the community. I compliment the Bajpe Rotary club for this unique project, and wish them best of luck in their future projects”
The six month tailoring course will be held from Monday-Friday, with two hours training each day, under the professional training of experienced and qualified trainer Meera D’souza. The expenses for the course has been sponsored by Rotary Club-Bajpe, Samanvaya, and a well-wisher from Abu-Dhabi. Club president Rtn Franklin Robert welcomed the gathering and briefed about the various projects accomplished under his tenure. Rtn Ravi Poojary proposed the vote of thanks, while the programme was professionally compered by Lenny Fernandes.
