Mangaluru: Rural Police Arrest Don Ammi Murder Accused Bipin Rai at MIA

Mangaluru: The prime accused in Don Ammi’s murder case was arrested at the International airport by the Kankanady rural police here on June 29.

The arrested has been identified as Bipin Rai, the owner of “Yashoda Krishna Finance”, Pumpwell.

On October 7, 2014 Hamid (45) popularly known as “Don Ammi” from Bunder was brutally murdered at Shaktinagar. On that day at around 8.54pm, when the dogs were continuously barking the locals came out to see and found a mobile at a distance lying on the road. When they proceeded further they found a man lying in a pool of blood.

In this regard Hamid’s wife Sabina filed a complaint in the rural police station and a case was registered under 349/14: 302 IPC.

While filing the case Sabina also mentioned that her husband had borrowed money from Yashoda Krishna Finance and failed to return it. Based on her complaint the police were monitoring the activities of the finance company. In the case Harish, a resident of Kembaru and Abhishek from Naguri were arrested. During interrogation they revealed that Bipin Rai along with Harish Sapalya had given supari to kill Ammi. Later Harish Sapalya was also arrested and police were searching for Bipin. But Bipin had already fled the country and reached Thailand via Goa – Mumbai. All the three arrested in the case were sent to judicial custody.

The police then sent a Look Out Circular (LOC) to all the international airports. On June 29, Bipin was flying from Thailand via Dubai and reached Mangalore international airport. During the immigration check, the officer found that there was a look out Circular against Bipin and he was taken into custody. Later the Rural police were informed by the immigration officers and Bipin was handed over to them.

Bipin was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody for further investigation.
