Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Dr U M Bushi-Principal of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management said, “Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt is being organized in nearly 200 Institutions. For each zonal center, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management is spending Rs. 40,000 which includes the prize money. The 3 prize winners from each competition of every institution will participate in the level 2, a mega event, which will be held at the Sahyadri Campus on 21st November 2015. Around 1500 students are expected to participate in this mega event. It involves project competition, still model competition and Quiz competition. The final prizes include a total cash award of Rs. 3,00,000/- , trophies and certificates. The participants will have the first hand opportunity to interact with engineering students, faculty members and also will witness a host of engineering projects”.
He further said, “The Government of India has felt the need to initiate and encourage the interest of students in Science & Technology and they have started funding the programmes. Hence, IITs and IISc started organizing Science Conclave every year to create awareness and interest among the students. However, it is not possible for them to reach out to every student. Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management in association with Government of Karnataka Research Center, Mangalore, initiated the Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt – SSTH. Sahyadri is dedicated to serve the society; especially those students who deserve a helping hand to come out with flying colors”.
“The Zonal Level Competitions of Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt-2015 were held at 42 zonal centers in Karnataka and Kerala, covering over 200 PU Colleges.The events witnessed good number of quality projects and models in all the zonal centers. The students participated with Great Spirit and enthusiasm in all the centres. Prof. Sudheer Shetty motivated the students to take up the project and research works and assured full support of Sahyadri in executing them. Under the able guidance and initiative of Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Sahyadri Educational Institutions, the Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt will ignite the talents of young students, motivate the young minds, stimulate and trigger the thought process of the PU or 10+2 students towards science and technology, for students hailing from urban from rural areas,” added Dr Bushi.
On the grand finale which is to be held at the Sahyadri campus on 21st November 2015, eminent guests like Prof. Gopalan Jagadeesh from IISC Bangalore, Ajay Reddy from Capgemini, Bangalore, Manjunath Prabhu from JSW, Bangalore, Dharmendra Singh from Schneider Electric, Gurudutt B R from IBM, M V Subramanian from Future Focus, will be present and who will also participate in the panel discussions.
Sudesh Shetty – HOD of Computer Science and Engineering and also chief coordinator of this program, Francis VJ -Administration Manager, and Vasanth Kedige – Media coordinator were also present during the press meet.
