Mangaluru: School in Surathkal installs Solar Units

Mangaluru: A 25-kW solar unit has been set up at Vidyadayini primary school, run by Hindu Vidyadayini Sangha.

The units are set up on the roof of the building. They are expected to produce a power of 100 units per day. Any additional generation of power is supplied to the grid.

The unit will be inaugurated on November 29 by P. Jayarama Bhat, MD and CEO, Karnataka Bank. The school was set up on November 30, 1916. The inauguration of the centenary year celebrations will be on November 29,Vidyadayini diamond jubilee hall, Surathkal.

Other projects planned for the centenary year include setting up a science park, construction halls, adopting the rain harvesting technology, Rs. 1 crore welfare fund for teaching and non-teaching staff and upgrading the school to the CBSE board. Total cost would be up to Rs. 7 crore.

A directory of old students, sports meets, scene fairs, literary and cultural programmes are also planned throughout the year.
