Mangaluru: Serial Thefts in Five Shops at Mahakalipadpu and Kankanady

Mangaluru: Thieves targeted five shops in Mahakalipadpu around the weekend.

The owner of an ice-cream shop has filed a complaint at the Pandeshwar police station and reported a loss of Rs 2,000 in cash, a bank passbook

The break-in is thought to have taken place on Saturday night. The sound of rainfall may have helped the thieves to escape attention of neighbours.

Another four or five shops in Kankanady also were broken into but no complaint has been filed in the matter, as the loss could be negligible. They included shops belonging to Manju and Mohini, Supreme Traders and Durga Bakery.

The theft at both the locations, although at a distance from each other, is thought to be the handiwork of a common gang.
