Mangaluru: Shameem Kunil Unanimously Elected President for Action Group for Elderly

Mangaluru: During the Annual General Body Meeting of Age-Mangalore held recently at Sahodaya-Balmatta here, Mrs Shameem Kunil was unanimously elected as the president for the year 2015-16. Other office-bearers unanimously elected are : KN Manjunath-vice President; Zahid Hussain Baji- Secretary; Irene Pais- Joint Secretary; and M Raghavan- Treasurer.

Age Mangalore (Action Group for Elderly) Established in the year 1997 with the main object of working towards the benefits of Senior Citizens specially those who who are not well placed in the Society. Mainly to affiliate, amalgamate,reconstruct, co-operation and bring together the various Societies, institutions,which are working on concerns of the elderly and to promote co-operation and co-ordination amongst them. To mobilise elderly citizens towards social causes as para professionals. To organise conferences, exhibitions, demonstrations and lectures to further the cause of welfare of the elderly without cast and creed.

We arrange every month some lecture programmes to our members to educate them in medical, legal, social and health etc. by calling eminent speakers. We have annual function “” World Elders Day “” when we invite inmates of several old age homes and bring them at our cost to the venue of the function and entertain them thus bringing some cheer to their otherwise monotonous living. We celebrate National functions such as Independence Day and Republic Day. And have annual picnic to our members. Periodically we visit Old age homes with some gifts to the inmates of the ashrams in Mangaluru and out skirts of Mangaluru.
