Mangaluru: More and more cases of people falling prey to con jobs like mobile and e-mail lottery prizes, fake job offers and other traps are being heard these days. All this happens in spite of frequent media reports about such incidents.
Taking cognizance of an alarming rise in the cases, Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police Dr Sharanappa S D has cautioned the public to be on their guard against various cheating and money-making traps, about which a number of complaints are being received.
Speaking at the monthly Dalit grievances meet held in his office on Sunday, the SP listened to many complaints from the Dalit leaders and community members regarding such schemes.
Dr Sharanappa appealed in general to the public to be cautious about chit funds, gold schemes, online and mobile lottery prizes, fleecing with fake job offers and others.
He also requested the public to verify from the police before joining chit fund schemes whether they are authentic and authorized.
