Mangaluru: State’s former chief minister, sitting Lok Sabha member from Shivamogga and BJP national vice president B S Yeddyurappa turned 73 on Sunday, Feb 27.
On the same day, prime minister Narendra Modi happened to share the dais wth BSY at the farmers’ convention held in Belagavi. The PM is said to have greeted him heartily and conveyed his birthday wishes.
A few months ago, when the former CM got a temporary reprieve from legal proceedings from the state high court, Modi reportedly wished him well in the Sansad Bhavan in Delhi.
Now a strong demand to install BSY as the BJP party president in the state has been snowballing, much to the discomfort of some other aspirants though.
A few of his admirers, under the initiative of local party leader, K Ravindra Shetty Ulidottu, organized special pujas and prayers in the centuries-old Shri Somanatheshwara temple in Someshwar near Ullal on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the occasion, Shetty said that Yeddyurappa was the best pro-people and pro-farmer chief minister the state had ever seen. It was the people’s wish that he should ascend the CM’s chair again. The pujas were offered for his good health and long life, he added.
Other party leaders like Chandrahas Uchil, Satish Kumpala, Dhanalaxmi, Roopa Shetty, former MLA K Jayaram Shetty and others were present at the rituals.
