Mangaluru: St Anna Church Holds Kelarai Yuva Karbar

Mangaluru: The St Anna Church Kelarai had a great historical event to celebrate on August 23. Under the banner of Kelarai Yuva Karbar (KYK)-2015, all youth of the parish had a fun day in the field.

There were 24 events, organized by the parish such as kabaddi, throwball, tug of war, dog and the bone, running race and the march past.

The event was inaugurated by MLC Ivan D’souza. In his inaugural address he said that the Kelarai parish has organized such event to encourage the youth. This is the first parish in the diocese that has organized such a meaningful event for the youth. He congratulated all the participants and wished the organizers success in their good work.

The president of the programme and the parish priest of St Anna Church Kelarai, Fr Joachim Fernandes in his message said, “In olden days, children used to play in paddy fields and they were enjoying their holidays. But now the fields have disappeared and concrete buildings have come up, children do not have proper grounds to play. Now the youth are attracted towards traditional sports. He urged the youth to involve themselves into agriculture along with their academics to retain the old tradition and culture.

Zilla Panchayat member Melwyn D’souza, Robert Lancy Pais, Vice president of Kelarai Church Parish Pastoral Parishat along with Secretary Alice Vas, ICYM president Wilfred Mascarenhas and YCS president Rohan Pais were present.

Chief organizer Fr Vishal Monis welcomed the gathering and Santhosh D’Costa conducted the proceedings of the day.

LOOK FORWARD FOR MORE AND MORE SUCCESSFUL ACTIVITIES IN BUILDING UP THE YOUTH OF KELARAI INTO FORMIDABLE GREAT LEADERS OF FUTURE NOT ONLY OF THE PARISH AND THE DIOCESE BUT EVEN NATIONWIDE AS WELL AS WORLDWIDE AS WELL….AND I AM CONFIDENT THAT THE PATRON SAINT SAINT ANNA WILL CERTAINLY GUIDE THEM ALL THROUGH THEIR LIVES AND CAREERS AHEAD.
