As per the orders of The district administration, the National Surfing Championship which was suppose to take place between May 29 and May 31 at Panambur Beach has been postponed in view of the model code of conduct for the Gram Panchayath elections.

The new dates for the event will be between October 22 and October 25. It was The Deputy Commissioner, A B Ibrahim’s decision since he felt it would be difficult to invite people’s representatives in the district for the event in view of the model code of conduct. In the meantime, the members of Mulki-based Surfing Federation of India are all disappointed and upset with the postponement, because they had done all the last minute preparations and also that over 60 participants had registered for the Championship, being held for the first time in Karnataka.
