Mangaluru: District Minister in-charge, B Ramanth Rai held a press meet at the circuit house here, on January 22.
Addressing the mediapersons, Rai said that Karavali Utsav will be inaugurated on January 23 and will conclude after 9 days on January 31. A procession of cultural troupes will be held from Kadri Park at 4:00 PM. The procession will go through Bejai, Jail Road, MG Road, Lal Bagh to the Karavali Utsav grounds. At 6:00 PM the exhibition will be inaugurated, followed by the inaugural function at 6:30 PM.
The exhibition will be held for 45 days at the Karavali grounds which will include, amusement, Marata mela, activities and entertainment for kids. Cultural programmes will be held at the Karavali grounds and Kadri Park. Cultural programme will feature, 50% local artists and the rest from and outside the country.
“Karavali Utsav Kreeda Samithi and DK district Weight Lifters Association will hold a district level weight lifting competition for men and women on 27 and 28 January at the Town Hall. Anyone interested can participate in this competition. We expect about 28 teams with 200 athletes to participate in this competition,” Rai said.
Fruit and Flower exhibition will be held at the Kadri Park and will be inaugurated at 3:00 PM on January 23. Food festival will be inaugurated near Kadri Park at 3:45 PM on the same day.
Rai said, “Beach Utsav will be hosted by Panambur Beach authorities on 30 and 31 January. Dance competitions, singing performances, Yakshagana will be held on January 30. Beach volleyball and national angling competition will be held on January 30 and 31.”
Rai said that a committee is formed to nominate the nominees for Karavali Gaurava Prashasti, which will be awarded on January 26.
