Mangaluru: Theft in Bajpe Church – Accused from Balkunje Arrested

Mangaluru: A theft had taken place in St Joseph church in Bajpe on Friday night. A man had come under the guise of the devotee and quietly looted the alms box and taken away about Rs 8,000 and a few items from the church.

The Bajpe police, with the help of the church authorities and other members, managed to arrest the accused on Saturday. He has been identified as Mohammed Basheer, who hails from Balkunje but currently resides in Soorinje.

On interrogation, he is said to have admitted to have been involved in a few theft cases in Kaup in 2013 and in Mulki in 2014.
