Mangaluru: The number of theft cases in the city have been increasing. Criminals roam around fearlessly in the city. There are chain snatchers who target vulnerable people, especially travellers arriving by train during the night, single persons walking on the road during the early or late hours. Now, people going to the bank are being watched and followed before these robbers execute their plan of looting their victim’s hard earned money.

On October 15, Advocate Arun Shetty, who had just drawn cash of Rs 5 lakh from Axis bank near Sharavu Temple here, was shocked to find the money disappear from his car which he had parked for a while on K S Rao Road to buy stationary at around 12:45 pm.

Speaking to Mangalorean.com, Arun Shetty said that he had drawn Rs 5 lakh from Axis Bank, near Sharavu Temple and got into his car. Later, when he was on his way to his office, he parked the car in front of Jos Alukkas and went to a stationary shop. When he returned after a while, he saw that the right side window was broken. When he checked his car, the bag containing the money he had just drawn from the bank was missing.

Even after several such incidents having been reported in the media, people are still not taking these thefts seriously. The public should be careful while withdrawing money from the bank or when leaving the money in the car.

The Bunder police have reached the spot and are investigating the case.

  1. Good lesson for the Advocate!

In order not to draw the attention of thieves, people with cars should always
get in the habit of putting all their: baggage, shopping, cash, and anything
always in the boot (Dicky), and thus nobody notices.

Leaving attache cases, shopping bags, ipads, iphones, laptops, etc., will only
attract thieves. The police always come after the crime is done – safety, security,
and proactive detection is non existant in India, and more so in Mangalore or Bangalore.

  2. “The number of theft cases in the city have been increasing. Criminals roam around fearlessly in the city.” – Report.

This is probably a true statement. If so, how come nobody is holding the current MLA or ruling govt for deteriorating situation in our city? If BJP is in power, every raama-dhooma incident is blown out of proportion by everyone including media and directly blamed on ruling party. I guess we have different standards for different political parties.

Sir, The debut BJP ruled Karnataka can’t give ‘Development’ to the state even with 3 Chief Minister and 2 Deputy Chief Minister running the office in Parallel. Even after two Home Minister belongs to the undivided district their were highest number of Church attacks recorded.

The citizens of Karnataka government gave chance to BJP,but they watched porn within the sanctity of assembly. All the politics are dictated from Bellary mine barron’s and assembly is run from resorts. The good governance MLA did rasalila, chumma, friends wife rape, love sex dhoka…

A Mangalore is ruled by BJP from last 2 decades. The city must have already become ‘smart city’. Unfortunately it became famous for pub attacks,Morning mist attack, moral police, cow chasing and communal tension.

Surprisingly, it is also called intelligent peoples district who elected incompetent MP who don’t raise single question in zero hour and only accompanied swamijis in Hindu Virat samavesh.
