Mangaluru: Timely Measures Avert Major Disaster after Fuel Tanker Mishap near Padua College

Mangaluru: A fuel-laden tanker was involved in a mishap near Padua College in the city around 4 pm on Saturday.

It was hit by another vehicle and as a result oil seepage began. Police and fire service were informed immediately. Traffic was stopped on the highway and vehicles were diverted to alternative routes.

A few fuel tanker mishaps in the district and elsewhere in the past have remained etched in the minds of the public. In this backdrop, what could have been a major disaster was averted by the timely action by the civil defence authorities. It was appreciated by the citizens in general.

Traffic on the highway was allowed only after the tanker was shifted from the place.
