Mangaluru to Develop under Smart City Project – MLA Bava

Mangaluru: “I thank Prime minister Narendra Modi and Chief minister Siddaramaiah for including Mangaluru in the Smart city list. Our aim was to be in the first list of 20 cities selected for the smart city but we were not lucky. Now in the second smart city list, Mangaluru is listed as one among the 27 cities. We need to start working on it, said MLA Moideen Bava in a press meet held at his office at the MCC Premises here on September 27.

Addressing the mediapersons Bava said that a food processing unit will be started in the Baikampady area under private /public participation. Solar energy grids will be installed and LED lights will be used in every house to minimize power consumption. To provide 24X7 water supply a metering system will be installed, waste water will be recycled. Rain water harvesting will be done. Waste management will be carried out in a systematic manner. Government services will be digitized, and public services will be made available through E-governance. Medical tourism and beach tourism will be given priority.

For the smart city project, we will get Rs 1000 crore for a period of three years, from the Union and state government. A grant of Rs 400 crore has been sanctioned from the Asian Development bank under the second phase of ADB project for the up gradation of drainage and water supply. Under the Amrith project, the MCC will get Rs 150 crore for the development of the drainage, in three years time Rs 1200 crore will be invested for development purposes.
