Mangaluru: Traditional Games to Rule the Show at Pilikula ‘Rain Fest’ on June 14

Mangaluru: There were a number of games and sports prevalent in Tulunadu over the past centuries. With the onset of urbanization and inroads of alien cultures, they are facing extinction and sliding into oblivion.

To revive people’s interest and in order to get the present generations to know about these games, an exclusive ‘Male Habba’ (Rain Festival) will be held in Dr Shivarama Karanth Biological Park area from 10 am onwards on Sunday, June 14.

The gathering will get an opportunity to witness traditional Tulunadu games like chennemane, pokku (gudna), kuntabille, lagori, weaving of coconut palms, mehandi, jibili and others. Rain-related quiz will be another prominent feature of the festival.

Admittance is open to all. Further details can be had from Kalkura Pratishthana, Shri Krishna Complex, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Kodialbail, Mangaluru 575003.
